Stafford County Deputies Had Busy Weekend Busting Drunk Drivers: Police

Stafford County deputies were out in force over the long holiday weekend and on the lookout for drivers who partied a little too much and made the poor decision to get behind the wheel of a car. Here are some of the many DUI arrests the Stafford County Sheriff's Office made during Fourth of July celebrations.

Jason Baird, 36, was arrested on Saturday, July 2, after he crashed his Toyota into a pole and a fire hydrant before he slammed into a tree on Mountain View Road, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said. A passenger was seriously injured in the crash. Responders had to cut them out of the car and airlift them for treatment. Deputies didn't release any updates on their condition.

Deputies said Baird was visibly impaired and smelled of alcohol. Officials charged him with DUI, maiming as a result of DUI, and reckless driving, the Sheriff's Office said. A report noted Baird was being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,500 bond.

April Davis, 40, picked up her fifth DUI in 10 years on Sunday, July 3, the Sheriff's Office said. Deputies found her car in a ditch along U.S. 1 near Coal Landing Road just after 3:30 p.m. Authorities found her along Gettsyburg Court and noted she was intoxicated.

Deputies charged her with DUI, driving with a revoked license, driving on a revoked license while intoxicated, and refusing a field sobriety test, officials said. Davis was being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bail, a report noted.

Jhon Delrio, 43, earned his second DUI after he crashed his Dodge into another car on Garrisonville Road just after 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 3, the Sheriff's Office said. Deputies said he clipped a Buick Enclave as he changed lanes.

Authorities said Delrio smelled of alcohol and was visibly intoxicated when they arrived. Officials charged him with his second DUI in five years, having a blood alcohol level of .15 to .20 — the legal limit is .08, and a traffic lane violation, deputies said. He was being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $5,000 bond, a police report said.

John Hughes, 41, was arrested after witnesses said he nearly hit two pedestrians on Friday, July 1, before he crashed into a mailbox and sped away, the Sheriff's Office said. Deputies tracked him down and charged him with DUI, hit and run, and reckless driving, a report noted. Officials said he was being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail until he sobered up.
